Founded in 1665, Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel (CAU) is a medium-sized university with eight faculties and currently 23,000 students. Being the only university in Schleswig-Holstein covering all major fields of science, it has to combine the educational needs of the region with the ambition for top-level research in Northern Germany. Research at the Department of Economics focuses on International Economics, Financial Economics, and Environmental and Resource Economics. The university’s Department of Economics closely collaborates with the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW).
