St Andrews is Scotland's oldest university, and the 3rd oldest in the English-speaking world. A new environmental economics research group has just been established within the Department of geography and sustainable development, led by Nick Hanley. Within the university, we have strong links with the Scottish Oceans Institute. The Department offers an MSc in Sustainable Development, and hosts a growing number of PhD students in environmental economics and related inter-disciplinary studies.
